Job Summary: Responsible for leading the network strategy and business development functions for the organization, including, strategic planning, business planning, new business identification and assessment, identification of market trends, regional and industry trends and their impact on WMCHealth.
Individual will be responsible for leading the Strategy and Business Development team and collaborating with network and local/regional hospitals, service line and operational leadership to develop and execute, where applicable, various strategic plans such as business plans, physician alignment plans and capital return-on-investment analysts. Works collaboratively with network physician and hospital leaders and outside network partners to proactively identify, communicate and assist in implementation of strategy and planning initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Leads the conception and development of planning projects, including development of strategic plans and partnering with operational stakeholders in implementing strategic goals and objectives, working closely with management and physicians throughout the regions;
- Leads and manages the team members of the department to achieve the organization’s strategic and business operational goals
- Manages the tracking, updates and monitoring of implementation and achievement of project goals and milestones within assigned region, reporting these results at appropriate leadership meetings;
- Participates in the preparation and management of Certificate of Needs (CONs), NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) grants, and programs as needed;
- Analyzes data and trends concerning health system services, utilization and population demographics using data available at WMCHealth Network, NYSDOH, NYS SPARCS and claims-based analytics tool and other external resources to develop proposals in support of the organizational goals and foster growth;
- Utilizes available market trends and data sources to develop market assessments and opportunity analysis for network hospitals, services lines, providers and other stakeholders;
- Partners with leaders in operational and service line leaders, hospital executive leadership, medical group, finance, human resources, support services departments and clinical leaders to establish business opportunity summaries
- Ensures compliance with federal, state and local laws and regulatory requirements and hospital accreditation standards as it related to development of new business opportunities. Partners with appropriate internal and third-party advisors to ensure standards are assessed.
- Develops and maintains relationships with internal and external providers and clinical affiliates to identify, assess and execute partnership opportunities.
- Manages development and execution of external provider business development initiatives, including contracting.
- Ensures active communication and partnership with internal and external stakeholders, include operational and hospital leadership to assess, vet and execute new opportunities.
- Provides professional consultation for service line leaders, managers and medical professional staff in the completion of business plans, project proposals and capital requests;
- Communicates effectively, providing timely, respectful, and accurate feedback (verbal, written, and listening skills). Must be able to articulate problems, solutions, and new ideas clearly (verbal or written) and respond appropriately.
- Builds and cultivates relationships and maintains in depth knowledge of assigned region and its challenges, threats, opportunities and unique characteristics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience where the primary function of the position was in professional health services strategy, operations or business development.
Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in hospital, public or business administration required.

Ability to conceive, organize and conduct statistical studies in ways relevant to hospital and health planning
Ability to effectively use computer applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, database software)
