The Breast Surgery team at Denver Health is recruiting for an Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our team. The APP under general supervision of an attending surgeon, and in collaboration with residents and fellows sees breast surgery patients.
APPs at Denver Health examines, diagnose and develop treatment plans for patients. Performs diagnostic testing, places referrals, writes prescriptions, and performs procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols and available equipment. They also ensure an environment of safe quality care and continual quality improvement. Demonstrates sound clinical judgement, professional communications skills, timely and compliant documentation, and is responsible for professional growth through participation in continuing education, staff development, and committee involvement.
Essential Functions:
Patient assessment, patient education, care coordination, writing orders, direct patient care procedures, disease management and discharge of patients.
Assist with ongoing development of breast service with participation in quality improvement, hospital staff education, development of service-related guidelines, education of residents and students and attendance in Department of Surgery core conferences.
Teaches medical students, APP students, nursing students and others as appropriate.
Education:
Master's Degree Graduation from an accredited educational program for either physician assistant or nurse practitioner. Required
Work Experience:
Experience with breast surgical oncology patients preferred."
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required and
PA-Physician Assistant - State Medical Board Required or
NP-Nurse Practitioner - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical principles and procedures. Skill in performing physical exams, formulation assessments of and treatment plans for patients. Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis. Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications. Ability to exercise initiative and judgement in selecting proper treatment. Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations. Ability to enhance professional growth and development through particpation in educational programs and continuing education.
