Under close supervision, provide exceptional customer service while processing patient and diet information to ensure that patients receive food according to their diet order and food allergies. Perform a variety of clerical duties: handles phones, uses computer system to process menus and diet information.
Essential Functions:
Initiates telephone or personal contact as appropriate to ensure all patients receive a meal for each meal period during scheduled shift. (5%)
Answers phones in a professional manner following department Phone Etiquette procedures and initiates telephone contact as appropriate. (5%)
Maintains departmental records, logs, files. (5%)
Records census on log after each meal. (5%)
Maintains clean, organized office. (5%)
Oversees inventory and ordering of office supplies. (5%)
Accurately tracks clinical activity data into department forms (5%)
Provides assistance with tray assembly and delivery as needed. (5%)
Reads HeatlhTouch Screens and various census/dx reports, etc (5%)
Uses Computer systems to perform diet office functions and clinical activities. (5%)
Prior to each meal service and throughout shift, updates patient information and diet orders in computer system that are received via computer, phone or FAX. (5%)
Clarifies incomplete or ambiguous diet order and ensures accurate meal orders according to policy. (5%)
Makes necessary diet changes, process correct diet orders for all patients and keep Room Service order system updated. (5%)
Processes Room Service customer meal orders accurately and according to patient preferences and dietary restrictions, including patient/family initiated orders and for patients needing assistance. (5%)
Updates and processes Room Service customer nourishments/supplements, snacks and tube feeding orders accurately and according to patient preferences and dietary restrictions, including patient/family initiated orders and for patients needing assistance. (5%)
Prints nourishment, supplement and tube feeding labels according to established time frames. (5%)
Prepares and delivers nourishment, supplement, and tube feeding product according to standard procedures. (5%)
As needed, follows guidelines and accurately calculates orders for tube feeding delivery. (5%)
Prints patient reports to determine which patients have not placed a meal order for the meal period. (5%)
Process AD-13 requests for patient and/or guest meal service. (5%)
Education:
No High School Diploma and/or No GED
Work Experience:
1-3 years customer service experience required and
Experience in healthcare food service operations and/or diet office preferred.
Licenses:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must be able to read, write and speak English.
Ability to speak both English and Spanish preferred (with documented competency of speaking Spanish).
Ability to handle multiple priorities at one time.
Able to perform repetitive hand and wrist movement.
Ability to demonstrate professional work behavior by following guidelines as established by policies and procedures.
Demonstrations competency with computer systems for order entry to update diet and patient information.
Ability to read HealthTouch screens and various census/dx reports, etc.
Computer data entry skills preferred.
Good typing, keyboarding and proofreading skills.
Experience with HealthTouch preferred.
