About the Opportunity
Vail Health is seeking a detail-oriented and service-driven Patient Access Specialist to support our overnight operations. In this essential role, you?ll serve as the first point of contact for patients, handling registration, insurance verification, and administrative tasks that ensure a smooth start to each patient?s care journey. You?ll be part of a supportive, mission-driven team that values precision, communication, and compassionate service.
This is a night shift-only position, ideal for individuals looking for a quieter, more focused work environment outside of typical business hours. What You?ll Do
Greet and register patients, ensuring all required information, consents, and documentation are collected accurately and efficiently.
Verify insurance eligibility and coverage, collect co-payments, and obtain necessary financial paperwork.
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries with professionalism and empathy.
Schedule appointments (particularly in procedure-based departments) and communicate pre- and post-exam instructions as needed.
Maintain accurate digital and paper records by scanning, auditing, and updating information in the EMR system.
Monitor and manage incoming communications including emails, faxes, and mail.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA, Medicare, EMTALA, and Joint Commission standards, including completing Medicare Secondary Payer Questionnaires and ABNs.
Support front desk inventory, attend team meetings, and contribute to overall departmental efficiency and service excellence.
Provide consistent, high-level customer service to patients, families, and staff in a fast-paced hospital setting.
What You?ll Bring
Experience: Customer service and/or clerical experience required; healthcare setting preferred but not necessary.
Skills: Strong communication, organization, attention to detail, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Technical: Basic computer proficiency; ability to learn new systems and complete required online training within 90 days.
Night Shift Differential Pay
$6.00/hour for weekday night shifts
$8.00/hour for weekend night shifts
