CLEAN/ORGANIZE DRY AND COLD STORAGE AREAS: Clean and organize the food and non-food storage areas of the dept. Rotate food according to first in, first out: Ensure that shelving, floors, ceilings, are all clean and organized. Prepare dry storage, refrigerator and freezer storage for major deliveries. Be ready to receive all food items according to policies and procedures. Document receiving temperatures. Promptly store food items received. Support the staff with inventory management. Communicate with Mgmt. when food and nonfood items are returned, shorted, damaged, and/or inventory is running low. FLOORS: Sweep, mops, and wax floors. Mop the walk-in refrigerators, production, and cafe service and seating areas several times daily. Accomplish the cleanliness, and waxing of the serving and seating areas of both cafes as specified. Ensure that the floors are safe to walk on (not excessively wet or greasy). Process the deep cleaning of the kitchen and production floors. Coordinate the use of floor cleaning equipment with Environmental Services. Properly clean the floor drains throughout the dept. RECYCLING/TRASH REMOVAL: Keep the kitchen and the cafes trash free. Transport to the designated locations and follow the established policies/procedures. Make sure all the collection containers are clean inside and out. Support the recycling efforts. CLEANLINESS OF THE PRODUCTION AREAS: Support the cleanliness of the production area, from cleaning the shelving to the walls, to the ceilings, keeping the area dust and grease free, to include the main kitchen and both cafes. Follow guidelines for processing the vents within the kitchens including the hood vents. Support the assignments made by the leads/mgmt. Report when equipment requires repair or replacement. EQUIPMENT: Support the cleanliness of all kitchen equipment from mixers to dish machine to coffee machines, etc. Report any concerns related to the equipment (broken parts/unsafe/unusual sounds/leaking faucets, etc.). CLEANLINESS OF THE SERVING AND SEATING AREAS OF THE CAFES: Keep the area clean and dust free- ceilings, walls, pictures, equipment; clean the chairs, booths, and tables- support this processes several times during the shift; request repair - from burnt lights to unsafe chairs/tables, etc. INVENTORY: Support the inventory process of food and non-food supplies, as assigned by Mgmt. following the policies and procedures. DEPARTMENT SUPPORT: Adjust daily schedule to accomplish the priorities of the day and time from receiving orders, stocking the cafes, cleaning the floors, etc.; must be able to serve customers in the cafes from the cash register to steam table/grill; assist the team to keep our department ready to serve customers with quality, safe food, promptly. Support the delivery of carts to the patient care area, as needed. PATIENT CARE/CAFE STOCK: Support the process of gathering and delivering of supplies to patients and cafeterias. Follow established floor stock policies and procedures. Monitor the cafes before and during meal service. Make sure items area available to keep customers smoothly moving through both cafes.

Previous experience with institutional food and/or housekeeping desired. Experience with food service equipment, as well as floor cleaning equipment.  

Kitchen Tech Competency - must pass the Kitchen Tech Competency prior to 90-day evaluation.

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
