Position Summary

The Pharmacy Buyer primarily supports the purchasing of medications and medication-related supplies to support medication management practices throughout all Phoenix Children’s sites of care. This role collaborates with hospital, ambulatory, and pharmacy colleagues to ensure medications are procured in a timely and compliant manner. The Pharmacy Buyer also interacts with pharmacy vendors to establish accounts, review purchasing metrics and trends, and identify opportunities for cost savings. The Pharmacy Buyer receives supervision of work activities from departmental pharmacy leaders; this role does not supervise any other position.

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• Associates in Business or related field or combination of education and experience. (Preferred)

Experience

• One year pharmaceutical buying or three (3) years pharmacy technician experience. (Required)
• Proficient in using a computer, pharmacy automation, and clinical information systems or equivalent (Required)
• Experience with information systems and automated and technical equipment, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access) (Required)
• Experience in pharmacy inventory management or equivalent (Preferred)

Certifications

• Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arizona (Required)
• Nationally certified technician by PTCB or NHA (Required)
• Supply Chain and Inventory Management Certificate from PTCB (Preferred)
• Advanced Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT-Adv) from PTCB (Preferred)

Special Skills

• General knowledge and exposure 340B Program and purchasing (Required)
• Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and effective working relationships with all members of the pharmacy and patient care team. (Required)
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet assigned goals. (Required)
• Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. (Required)
• Effective time management skills with the ability to determine and communicate priorities. (Required)
