The Cardiovascular Invasive Technician is accountable to surgically scrub in and help with equipment. Helps the Cardiovascular Invasive Specialists with radiographic and fluoroscopic procedures is a secondary assignment. Prepares room and equipment, transports and monitors patients. May handle medications in accordance with responsibilities.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Helps Physicians with arteriograms/catheterizations, permanent pacemaker implantations, diagnostic and interventional, peripheral and coronary, interventional and thrombolytic therapy.
Related duties include: preparing and maintaining sterile 1 fields for lab procedures; printing film and calculating stenosis on peripheral cases; circulating in procedure rooms and collecting data on appropriate forms; monitoring patient's ECG and vital signs while in Catheterization Lab, notifying Physician of variances, and providing emergency procedures (CPR, defibrillation, etc.) as needed.
Performs pre-and post-procedure care. Monitors and orients patients for specials/catheterization procedures.
Answers related questions to make patient relaxed. Transports patients to and from procedural area.
Communicates relevant medical information to physicians and other staff through required documentation on specified medical record forms.
Records, enters into data computer and calculates catheterization data, gradients, LV grams, cardiac outputs, and peripheral stenosis.
Follows national and state radiation protection regulations for patients, self and staff.
Maintains inventory of and orders procedure room supplies. Ensures procedure rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is safe to use.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
One (1) year clinical experience preferred.
Use of basic office equipment and computer literacy required.
Ability to multi-task and self-manager problem solving skills.
Ability to demonstrate precision and flexibility.

Knowledge and ability to apply complex invasive cardiac and vascular values, instrumentation and techniques.

Basic Life Support (BLS)
ACLS (ACLS): Must obtain ACLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
