The Benefits Consultant I is accountable for the administration of employee benefit programs, providing guidance to employees on eligibility, coverage and other matters related to benefits.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Manages and administers employee benefit programs such Retirement, Voluntary, Dental, Vision and Well Being, and other benefits as applicable.
Serves as a key point of contact for PeoplePlace, providing guidance on eligibility, coverage and other matters related to benefits, by established policies.
Maintains benefits records and documentation.
Helps in the design and implementation of benefits programs to help attraction, retention and motivation of a high quality and high performing workforce.
Helps in the preparation of summary plan descriptions and other employee benefit communications.
Helps with benefits initiatives and projects, including program changes, ongoing education efforts, operations and vendor transitions to ensure employees knowledge, smooth transitions and efficient and effective day-to-day operations.
Participates in the integration and transition in merger and divestiture partnerships.
Identifies cost-effective solutions to actively manage the programs delivered to employees to give the most value for the dollars spent.
Evaluates processes and procedures to identify opportunities for process improvement.
Helps in compliance reviews related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other regulatory and internal policies.
Serves as back up help for other benefit programs, as requested.
KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
Society for Human Resources Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS ) designation preferred.
Thorough knowledge of benefits program management techniques and methods.
Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations.
Knowledge of change management values.
Ability to work alone, with minimal guidance.
Excellent knowledge of MS Office specifically Excel and PowerPoint; working knowledge of PeopleSoft is a plus. Knowledgeable of programs such as Canva is a plus.
Outstanding organizational skills.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence others.
Excellent problem-solving ability, with ability to solve complex programs.
