The largest health care provider in Johnson County, Kansas, the SMH network includes SMMC and SMH - Prairie Star and will soon include SMH - Blue Valley, a third major health care facility. Our 54-acre campus at SMMC is comprised of the main hospital, a community health education building, six physician office buildings and an associate child care center. The Emergency Department at SMMC is the busiest in Johnson County. We deliver more babies each year at the Shawnee Mission Birth Center than any other hospital in the metropolitan area and our Center for Womenâ™s Health is nationally recognized. We have seven Shawnee Mission Primary Care locations with more than 30 Board-certified doctors who specialize in family medicine, internal medicine and pediatrics as well as Centra Care Shawnee Mission Urgent Care locations.
Qualifications
You will be responsible for:
Cares for perinatal patients and families and works collaboratively with all units and professionals within the Birth Center and Shawnee Mission Health to ensure seamless care for the families served.
Provides care based on family-centered principles and evidence-based care.
Actively participates in unit-based committees.
Adheres to the infant security practices and respond accordingly as outlined in the Birth Center Infant Security Policy.
Takes initiative to be informed about new equipment, technology, forms, credentialing and practice changes, policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
Actively participates in daily safety huddles.
Consistently follows organizational guidelines for effective hand hygiene.
Follows guidelines for standard precautions as directed.
Maintains a neat and clean patient environment by changing linens, emptying trash and keeping hallways clean and free of clutter and equipment.
Performs environmental tasks as delegated with minimal supervision.
Maintains Aseptic and Sterile Technique for vaginal and c-section births.
Performs post case clean-up and ensures instruments are properly prepared for Central Processing.
Answers call lights, telephones and requests for assistance quickly and with a smile and pleasant demeanor.
Resolves issues and problems as soon as they arise.
Assists RNs with activities of daily living and repositioning as directed.
Demonstrates proper use of patient care supplies and equipment.
Demonstrates knowledge of patient safety supplies and respond appropriately to organizational disaster codes.
Follows directions accurately and completely.
Keeps patient and hospital information confidential and out of public view.
Keeps the unit stocked and prepared for patients and any OB emergencies.
What will you need?
High School Diploma or Equivalent
BCLS obtained through the American Heart Association Preferred
Associateâ™s Degree or Graduate of a Technical School Preferred
Graduate of an accredited school for Surgical Technology Preferred
1 Year of Position-Related Experience Preferred
Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) Preferred
