Salary Details:
The starting pay is $18.43 per hour; after 12 months of service the salary will be $19.29 per hour, differentials are also available. Pay will be set based on the State Compensation Plan. The classification for these positions is Resident Care Technician (RCT) - Objective and the pay schedule/range is 06/11. A 12 month probation is required.
A $2000 sign-on bonus applies to those with no prior state service in the last five years; must stay with SWC for a minimum of one year to retain the bonus. Bonus will be split, $1000 upon hire and $1000 after completing probation. A $0.45 night differential will be paid for night hours worked, and a $0.60 weekend differential will be paid for weekend hours worked. The differentials will be combined for a total of $1.05 when working a night shift on a weekend.

Work Hours:
- We have full-time vacancies on all shifts, but are primarily looking to fill second and third shift positions.
- Weekends and holidays are required. You will be provided your permanent assignment midway through your training program.
- Your permanent assignment will consist of a 3-week rotating schedule that will include working 2 consecutive weekends on, then having 1 weekend off and will repeat.
CNAs at SWC provide care to individuals with intellectual disabilities; provide personal hygiene care to residents including bathing, grooming, and toileting. CNA’s observe and report behavioral, mental, and physical changes in residents; record and summarize information in daily logs, clinical records, etc.; assist seated or lying residents to a standing position by pulling and lifting; and work cooperatively with others to promote a positive living environment.

Important Next Steps After You Apply
- Walk-ins are welcome! The short multiple choice exam and interviews are being held every Wednesday between 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. at Wallace Hall. Successful completion of the applicant check-in, exam, and interview may take between one to two hours.
- Candidates who successfully complete the online application will receive an email within 2-3 days inviting them to attend an interview and multiple choice exam at Southern Wisconsin Center, located at 21425 Spring Street, Union Grove, WI .
- Those that pass the exam will be invited to interview immediately following the exam.
- All candidates must bring a photo ID with signature.
Note: Due to Covid-19 all candidates who are arrive to the multiple choice exam and interview will be screened by getting their temperature checked prior to being allowed into the building. Masks are mandatory

General Requirements:
- Background check
- Tuberculosis test given by SWC or medical personnel approved by the facility prior to start date
- Employees are required to provide documentation of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by their start date. Exceptions will be granted to those who obtain an approved medical or religious accommodation or those who provide documentation requiring a delay in receiving the vaccine.
- Physical requirements, which may include but are not limited to lifting up to 55 lbs, carrying, bending, sitting, kneeling, and stooping. Applicants are required to pass a physical evaluation to assess these requirements.
- Complete the training program successfully during the first 6 weeks of employment and obtain a valid Wisconsin Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification with first 120 days of employment. The training period is full-time, Monday-Friday at SWC.
Must be willing and available to:
- Attend the required training full-time, Monday-Friday during the first 6 weeks of employment.
- Work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime when needed including staying for the next shift (up to 15.5 hours total in one shift) or working additional shifts as assigned to maintain facility staffing requirements.
Ability to:
- Read, comprehend, and interpret charts/diagrams and policies/procedures.
- Work effectively as a member of a team and interact with others
