The sonographer thoroughly understands all aspects of cardiac disease and performs different types of echocardiography exams with a high degree of accuracy and analytical skills. He/She is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating findings of diagnostic echocardiography examinations to the physician reader for interpretation. Cardiac Sonographers maintain high standards of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, cardiac pathology, and new procedures as they evolve. The clinical specialist works with technologists and supervisors to develop employee skills through one-on-one specific training and/or through clinical rotations. Provides clinical and technical resources to staff and students for career development and registry preparedness where applicable.
High School Diploma, Certificate of Attendance, Certificate of Completion, GED or equivalent training or experience required. Graduate from an allied health accredited program. Certification in ARDMS - Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer or CCI – Registered Cardiac Sonographer. Current BLS certification by the American Heart Association. Minimum Required Experience: 2 years
