The NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital has staff with extensive specialized training and experience to provide stabilizing and life-saving care for sick newborns. The NICU is recognized as a Level IV NICU the highest level of intensive care for neonates.
We are a designated March of Dimes NICU Family Support program and have a Neuro NICU with specialized care for babies with neurologic conditions.
This position will be working 60 hours every two weeks on the rotating evening/night shift, 12 hour shifts and every third weekend. This position is benefit eligible.
In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fast-paced unit. Other job duties include:
Minimal direct patient care
Maintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms and assembling patient charts
Setting up and maintaining patient rooms
Ordering and stocking of supplies
Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire with the following exceptions:
If the applicant is currently enrolled in an RN program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the program or If the applicant is a current Fairview employee, this requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position
