The Lead Health Technician (Telehealth Clinical) provides direct leadership to a team of Telehealth Clinical Technicians as well as leading initiatives designed to improve the delivery of care to Veterans using telehealth. They provide high level support, training, and advanced management of telehealth operations and is typically stationed at a clinical care delivery site (VA Medical Center, CBOC, VA Outreach Clinic, etc.); with duties that may require travel. The Veterans Health Administration (VHA) supports the provision of patient care using telehealth technologies which increases a Veteran's access to care and support a Veteran's self-management. This includes developing and delivering virtual and digital technologies which help Veterans communicate synchronously and asynchronously with their health care teams and coordinate, track and manage their health care. The duties of this position are but not limited to: Supports, coordinates and/ or directly configuring, installing, troubleshooting, cleaning, and performing minor routine maintenance of assigned telehealth technology. Provides education and training to Veterans and clinicians on the use of telehealth technologies and serving as a point of contact to answer questions and address concerns related to these technologies. Works with the supervisor to develop assignments for team members to meet routine and unusual deadlines and priorities. Instructing employees in specific tasks and job techniques, making available written instructions and reference materials for use by team members in the accomplishment of tasks or projects. Identifies and recommends methods to streamline procedures and process of the telehealth program. Coordinates with vendors, Biomed and IT to upgrade and or replace Telehealth technology. Prepare the clinical environment, which may include preparing medical and telecommunications equipment to be used for clinical examination and treatment. Serves as a tele presenter, within scope of practice, during clinical video telehealth (CVT) and VVC encounters. Receives and schedules requests for simple and complex intra-facility and interfacility telehealth appointments using an electronic resource-based scheduling system. Monitors and maintains schedules of rooms, patients, technologies, clinical providers, and presenters as needed to ensure efficient telehealth operations. Ensures assigned telehealth technologies are secured, ready for use, and accounted for by preparing and tracking maintenance work orders, information systems, inventory records, and communicating with National Telehealth Technology Help Desk to facilitate troubleshooting, repair, and coordination of replacement equipment as necessary. Arranges and completes test video calls with Veterans to prepare the Veterans for clinical encounters using telehealth technologies. Prepares Telehealth Service agreements between services and facilities to provide shared health services for Veterans.
