Pharmacy Technologist Specialist Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technologist Specialist will work as a system-level pharmacy technician and assist Pharmacy Leadership with data collection, auditing financial, operational, technological systems University of Texas Medical Branch Pharmacy Department.
Additional Job Duties
Kronos Timekeeping and Payroll Management
Payroll Policy and Procedure Management
Coordination of departmental events, meetings, and interviews, including Conference Room management and meal coordination
Serve as Departmental Liaison for visitors
Meeting Minute Taking for Functional Leaders as needed
Signature and DEA card Coordination
Responsible for departmental accounts payment/invoice/voucher/check requestions, submittal of PO’s and Non-PO’s, and ordering of office supplies
Acts as designated Departmental Fire Safety Marshall
Clerical tasks including Phone and Mail Triage
Records Retention and Asset Management
High school or equivalent and five years of experience in a role utilizing mastery of pharmacy technician skills with an emphasis on knowledge of medications used in an inpatient, ambulatory care.
Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician.
Must have current knowledge of safety regulations in the department and in the implementation of new policies and procedures.
Proficient knowledge of operating system software, desktop applications such as excel, power point, etc., interfaces, and pharmacy information system applications as they relate to the automated dispensing machines.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and problem solve.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications
Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) National Certification; required to maintain PTCB active status.
Knowledge of Medical Terminology
Understanding of pharmacy regulations and compliance
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Excellent Customer Service skills
Experience with business coordination and office management
Senior Pharmacy Technologist Job Summary:
Senior Pharmacy Technologist assists pharmacists in providing drug distribution, technical services, and clinical services associated with the preparation, storage, and dispensing of pharmaceuticals. Senior Pharmacy Technologist provides training and daily supervision of the technical staff in the area of responsibility, provides input to adjust schedules based upon absences, emergency staffing and vacancies.
High school or equivalent and five years hospital/retail clinical experience. Registered with the Texas State Board of Pharmacy (TSBP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Taken and passed a pharmacy technician certification examination approved by TSBP and have a current certification. Completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited training program or 60 hours of college credits in the applicable area of study.

Preferred Qualification For All Titles:
ACPE approved IV (sterile products) certification.
Standard hospital pharmacy environment.
Working with the public.
Work with chemotherapy and other bio-hazardous agents
Working weekends and shift rotation.
May be required to work overtime and extended shifts during emergencies.
Standard office equipment and pharmaceutical equipment.
Must pass UTMB and TDCJ security clearance.
