The VA Nebraska-Western Iowa is currently recruiting for one (1) full-time Nursing Assistant to work out of the Grand Island CBOC clinic. The incumbent will function as a member of the nursing team and assist licensed nursing staff in the care of patients. The CNA provides direct patient care to patients requiring nursing care and observation on a regular and ongoing basis. Duties of the position include, but are not limited to: Provides routine hygienic/activities of daily living care. Performs positioning and movement of patients. Performs actions targeted to the maintenance/restoration of skin integrity. Administers a variety of comfort measures. Takes vital signs after completion of orientation and competency validation. Feeds patients orally including those who are at risk for aspiration, after appropriate training. Collects patient information including observation of overall condition. Recognizes and reports obvious changes in patient condition including emergencies. Completes assignments, reports to the accountable RN when assignment has been completed, or when unable to complete activities. Supports the health care team through the reinforcement of patient education. Participates in selected Performance Improvement (PI) activities as directed. Assists with selected activities related to patient admission/transfer and discharge Assists with various unit activities including pleasant events, restorative therapy and recreation activities to promote a stimulating and engaging environment for residents. Work Schedule: Each pay period is 6 12hr shifts (05:45-8:15) and 8hr shift (05:45-14:15) with every other weekend as 2 12hr shifts. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
