P enn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center is seeking a highly professional, visible, patient and quality focused nurse leader with Magnet(r) and academic medical center experience, and strong collaboration skills to assume the role of Vice-President of Nursing -Surgical Services. The VP of Nursing provides leadership, strategic direction and responsibility for the practice of Nursing and has overall responsibility and accountability for the patient care provided and support for all areas of surgical services. As a member of the executive team, the VP of Nursing supports and facilitates an interdisciplinary team approach to the delivery of care. The VP of Nursing will develop and align nursing strategy to support overall hospital goals and take accountability for providing effective and meaningful leadership to execute on key initiatives.
J OB SUMMARY:
The VP of Nursing Surgical Services reports to the Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer. Overall the VP of Nursing Surgical Services is responsible for 439 FTEs and an annual expense budget of just over $136 million. Reporting to the VP of Nursing are the following Directors, Managers, Program Manager, and Administrative Associate:
D irector, Perioperative Services Operations
D irector, Sterile Processing OR Materials Management
N urse Manager, Operating Room
N urse Manager, Children's Hospital Perianesthesia
N urse Manager, Adult Hospital Perianesthesia
P rogram Manager, Quality and Safety
A dministrative Associate
M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
G raduate degree is required. If the graduate degree is in a related discipline other than nursing, then the baccalaureate must be in nursing. Currently licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners, required.
C ertification is Nursing Administration is preferred.
R epresentative knowledge, skills, and abilities of Nurse Administrators per the ANA Scope and Standards required.
F ive years of healthcare management experience, including nursing and physician relations experience required. Clinical Experience in both acute and ambulatory settings is desired.
W orking knowledge and experience within a Magnet designated organization is strongly preferred.
