T he Penn State Children's Hospital is ranked by U.S. News & World Report as one the Best Children's Hospital across multiple specialties. As a designated Level 1 Children's Surgery Center, the hospital is just one of eight in the nation, and the only one in Pennsylvania, to achieve this designation through the American College of Surgeons Children's Surgery Verification Program.
T he Children's Hospital expansion will open in the Fall of 2020 to help meet the needs of the children and families in Central Pennsylvania. When the expansion is complete, the Children's Hospital will provide more space for a state-of-the-art labor and delivery unit, the highest-level neonatal intensive care unit and exceptional care for children, moms and babies.
J OB SUMMARY:
T he Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is the highest level NICU in the region. The unit is currently expanding to 56 beds to meet the growing demand to provide exceptional care for premature infants. Registered Nurses in the NICU are responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care. Our unit care capabilities include regular ventilation support or high-frequency ventilation, nitric oxide therapy, ECMO, cardiac, surgical, renal and neurological. The unit provides staff additional opportunities including committee participation, unit self-scheduling and continuing training.
M INIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
R egistered Nurse with a license to practice professional nursing in the state of Pennsylvania or a Registered Nurse from another state with a Temporary PA Practice Permit
6 months of experience working as a RN
P REFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
NICU, ICU or Pediatrics experience
P HYSICAL REQUIREMENTS*:
Able to sit occasionally; stand constantly; walk frequently.
A ble to lift/carry 0-10 lbs frequently; 11-50 lbs occasionally.
A ble to push/pull 0-20 lbs frequently; 21-75 lbs occasionally.
A ble to climb occasionally; reach constantly.
A ble to use hand for simple/firm gr asping.
