This leadership position is accountable for the management and operations of the Credentialing Verification Office (CVO) and oversight and integration for the medical administrative and medico-legal aspects for the Medical Staff organization as well as the credentialing and enrollment for the University of Toledo Physicians, LLC delegated carriers utilizing TJC, NCQA, CMS guidelines or other accrediting bodies as required. In consultation with the Chief Medical Officer, the Executive Director for UTP is an essential link between the Board of Trustees, the UTP Executive Committee, senior management, Hospital staff and the Medical Staff to promote and enhance good communications and a positive working relationship. Responsible for establishing, contributing and maintaining continuity in the planning, development and implementation of standards applicable to Medical Staff members relating to credentialing, quality and administrative functions for both UTMC and UTP, LLC. Responsible for preparation, organization and follow-up involved in maintaining hospital accreditation and licensure relative to the Medical Staff requirements of The Joint Commission, the Department of Health and Human Services and maintain certification with National Commission on Quality Assurance. Directs the activities of the medical staff organization, manages and facilitates the responsibilities of the Chief of Staff, Vice Chief of Staff, Secretary/Treasurer and other Medical leadership as well as meeting the reporting requirements of both NCQA and the contracted delegated carriers, directs activities of the other support staff when appropriate.
Bachelor’s degree in medical staff services science, business administration, management, or other related field required. May consider 10 years’ experience in a supervisory role overseeing Medical Staff credentialing processes in lieu of degree.
Medical Staff Services Certification by NAMSS required. (CPMSM or CPCS)
Minimum of five years medical staff experience and supervisory experience required.
Comprehensive knowledge of medical staff office functions and responsibilities required.
Work requires knowledge of medico-legal issues and awareness of the legal ramifications of hospital documentation and hospital and physician liability.
Work requires excellent command of the English language and extensive knowledge of medical terminology and technology.
Additional Salary Information: Full time, salaried employees accrue 22 paid vacation days and 15 sick days (unused paid time off rolls over each year), in addition to 10 paid holidays each year.
