Under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, fills all physician orders/prescriptions which includes all oral, topical, and injectable medications as well as
nutrition. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients. Demonstrates proficiency in more than one work area and is assigned to work in a designated
area determined by the pharmacy manager. completion of internal department requirements, to work in an assigned area, when necessary.
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Clinic in its efforts to provide quality pharmaceutical care and patient satisfaction.
Reports to the pharmacy technician supervisor, the pharmacy manager, and ultimately to the AVP Outpatient Pharmacy Services.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions.
Demonstrates the ability to perform mathematical calculations and to use computers for spreadsheets and word processing.
Demonstrates a working knowledge of medical terminology and pharmaceutical and/or chemical names preferred.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or GED required.
Must have passed the pharmacy technician certification board’s national certification exam or take and pass the exam within one year of employment.
Must accrue enough continuing education credits to maintain the certification.
Qualifications meeting the Pharmacy Technician II and III levels will be considered at appropriate compensation.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Must have the ability to accommodate a flexible schedule of rotating shifts and the ability to stand or walk for approximately 99% of the shift.
Conforms to the dress code per company policy.
