Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment Program
California Correctional Health Care Services (CCHCS) is seeking a research specialist to conduct complex scientific research and analysis in support of California’s Integrated Substance Use Disorder Treatment (ISUDT) program. This newly-created statewide program is designed to provide integrated, specialized care to patients with a history of substance use who require additional medical assistance.
In this key position, you will:
Develop surveillance systems and lead epidemiology investigations and health services research that provide an evidence driven basis for policy and program decisions and recommendations to reduce the morbidity and mortality associated with substance use disorder
Plan, organize, and direct major applied scientific studies that have statewide sensitivity and policy impact
Make original, independent decisions on complex scientific problems using scientific theories and principles on association and risk
Travel to correctional institutions 1-2 times per year for investigations
To thrive in this position, you must have:
Bachelor’s degree with a minimum 1 year of post-graduate education and a minimum 4 years of research experience which must have included either a) 1 year of experience with responsibility for determining complex research designs and methods, or b) 1 year of experience directing a complex research program
MD/DO, DrPH, or PhD (epidemiology/biostatistics) degree and a minimum 1 year of varied professional research experience which must have included responsibility for determining research design and methods
