The Darby lab is seeking a motivated and independent applicant for hire as a Clinical Translational Research Coordinator II in research of behavioral and cognitive neurology. Our lab uses a combination of structural MRI, functional connectivity MRI, and behavioral testing to understand complex neurological disorders involving cognitive impairment, psychosis, and/or abnormal moral behavior. The applicant will help with recruitment, coordinating patient visits, and administering behavioral/neuropsychological testing in ongoing studies in patients with Parkinson's disease and Frontotemporal dementia. Responsibilities will include: 1.) Coordinating the approval of research protocols through the IRB; 2.) Recruitment of patients and coordination of study visits, including administration of behavioral/neuropsychological tests and scheduling of neuroimaging; and 3.) Data entry, management, and analysis. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, interpersonal skills, and a willingness to learn basic computing skills. Familiarity with psychological research tools (Presentation, E-prime), neuropsychometric test administration, statistical software (R, SPSS), and an interest in cognitive neuroscience and/or medicine is also highly desired. Interested applications will also have the opportunity to participate in the writing of manuscripts or abstracts for scientific meetings.
Coordinate Research Projects
With assistance, prepares and processes new IRB research proposals, amendments, continuing review applications and adverse event reports according to institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
Uses coordination skills and works collaboratively to complete research protocols, including participant eligibility and recruitment, scheduling study visits, administering patient questionnaires and behavioral tasks.
Records data from patient medical records, questionnaires, and behavioral tests onto case report forms (either paper or electronic) with awareness and attention to the requirements for accuracy, completeness and timeliness.
Download, organize, and store behavioral testing data onto lab computers and servers
With guidance and training, conduct basic statistical processing of behavioral data using statistical software
Assist with the creation of figures, charts, and tables of research findings
Assist with preparation of manuscripts and abstracts for scientific meetings, if desired.
