Directs the daily operations of the Medical Staff office as it relates to credentialing and privileging, bylaws, rules and regulations, and committee processes for Placentia-Linda Hospital. Directs the quality of Medical Staff services, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Responsible for all aspects of the verification process for medical staff incumbents. Responsible for facilitating the appointment, reappointment and ongoing quality monitoring process for the Medical Staff. Maintains a working knowledge of medical bylaws, rules, and regulations. Responsible for development and maintenance of physician credential files. Maintains outstanding relations with physicians, visitors, co-workers, and representatives of other departments. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Adheres to strict confidentiality standards at all times. This position reports to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO).
Five yearsï¿½ experience as a Medical Staff/Credentialing Coordinator preferred. Minimum two years as a Medical Staff Services manager preferred. CPMSM certification by the National Association of Medical Staff Services; or an equivalent combination of education and experience plus CPMSM certification.If not certified at time of hire then certification must be obtained within two years. Must possess a thorough understanding of Medical Staff credentialing and privileging requirements and Medical Staff committee structure and peer review process. Knowledge of TJC, CMS, HCAHPS, and other laws and regulations highly preferred.
Five yearsï¿½ experience as a Medical Staff/Credentialing Coordinator preferred.
Two yearsï¿½ experience in a managerial level position preferred.
Current certification as a Certified Professional Medical Staff preferred.
