2 West is a 24 bed Intermediate Care Unit caring for ICU stepdown patients, and various patient populations. Our patient populations include medically complex, trauma patients, solid organ transplant, general surgery, post-operative urology and renal disease patients. 2West has been recognized for our sustained efforts in HAI prevention for CLABSI, CAUTI and VAP. Our nursing team is dynamic, with a core group of highly experienced, nationally certified and specially trained nurses. We offer ongoing continuing education to enhance nursing competencies and encourage professional development. 2West has an active Nursing Shared Governance model, with strong support for nurses to participate. Nurses and nursing assistants, together with the interdisciplinary team, provide excellent care to our diverse patient population on 2West.
We partner with Respiratory Therapists to care for patients with artificial airways and patients requiring high flow oxygen therapies. Our patient care complexity directly relates to the wide range of nursing competencies required for this diverse patient population. Nursing competencies include: artificial airway management, chest tube management, management of gastrostomy tubes, pain management, blood product administration, urinary catheterization, and central line care and management.
The Synergy model is used in making appropriate patient assignments based on patient and family needs and nursing skill set.
BSN or Actively enrolled in BSN program required 1 year Acute Care Nursing experience required
Acute Inpatient Pediatric experience preferred
Trach/Vent Experience preferred Must be eligible for or have current DE nursing license. Must have BLS certification through the American Heart Association
