JOB SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse assesses plans, organizes, performs, and evaluates nursing activities to meet the needs of the patient. Promotes adaptive responses of patient/family to achieve the highest level of patient care, promote safety, and maximize patient satisfaction. Exhibits compassionate care during patient-nurse interactions. Coordinates patient care and interaction of staff. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in their assigned nursing unit
Performs duties to support the goals and objectives of Geisinger Health System in its efforts to provide quality service and patient satisfaction.
Reports directly to manager or designee.
COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS: HEALTHCARE KNOWLEDGE-Knowledge of the operating principles, major issues, governmental regulations, and code of ethics for the healthcare industry; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to healthcare related situations.
GENERAL COMPUTER COMPETENCIES-Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers or workstations.
TEAM PLAYER-Must be able to work and communicate effectively in a team environment.
INDEPENDENT WORK-Demonstrates ability to work independently or with limited supervision.
Demonstrates excellent clinical nursing skills, knowledge, judgment and leadership in a multidisciplinary environment.
Demonstrates the capability of making rapid and clinically accurate decisions based on evidence based practice.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Nursing School Graduate, RN currently licensed, or eligible, in the state of Pennsylvania required.

GEISINGER MEDICAL CENTER: (GMC) Located Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children’s Hospital.
