Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, functions as a lead or resource person for personnel involved in Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab department, in addition to performing exercise specialist in cardiac/pulmonary rehab duties. Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, plans, develops, implements and evaluates individualized exercise prescriptions and risk factor modification programs. Designs, implements and participates in educational programs for a variety of clients. Provides direction, assistance and instruction to support staff, as appropriate. Coordinates the flow of work, oversees and follows up on activities in cardiac and pulmonary rehab or assigned personnel, resolves routine and complex problems and ensures that department is operating in a timely, safe and efficient manner. Monitors the quantity and quality of work flow to ensure work is completed. Ensures that prescribed exercise prescriptions are performed according to department standards. Provides input for staff performance appraisals. Has the responsibility for scheduling for cardiac rehab staff. Monitors activities for and ensures compliance with laws, government regulations, JCAHO requirements and DMC policies. As directed, implements external and internal audit recommendations. 1. Bachelor of Science in Allied Health or related health discipline (i.e., Physical Therapy, Physiology, Physical Education, Community Education) preferably with an internship experience in cardiac rehab. Masters degree preferred. 2. One to two years of clinical experience in a specialized area, such as Cardiology within a health care setting, preferred. 3. BLS and ACLS certification. 4. American College of Sports Medicine Certification as a Certified Exercise Specialist preferred. [BRASSRING
