Nemours is seeking a Simulation Education Registered Nurse Specialist FULL-TIME join our Nemours Children's Hospital team in Orlando, Florida
Located in Orlando, Fla., Nemours Children’s Hospital is the newest addition to the Nemours integrated healthcare system. Our 100-bed pediatric hospital also features the area’s only 24-hour Emergency Department designed just for kids as well as outpatient pediatric clinics including several specialties previously unavailable in the region. A hospital designed by families for families, Nemours Children’s Hospital blends the healing power of nature with the latest in healthcare innovation to deliver world-class care to the children of Central Florida and beyond. Assists in leading daily operation of the Simulation Center including:
1) serving as a mentor and educator to healthcare providers and home caregiver teams,
2) creating, preparing and coordinating simulation scenarios for use with advanced simulation equipment,
3) instructing course facilitators in the use of equipment
4) conducting routine equipment maintenance, inventory updates and recommendations for new equipment purchases
5) scheduling and tracking of Center usage
6) conducting regular evaluations and critique of programs, soliciting recommendations from both internal and external customers
7) create innovative curriculum and identify opportunities to integrate continuous improvement concepts and technology into healthcare education
8) maintain professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends
9) Participate in teaching BLS, PEARS, ACLS and PALS courses
10) Assist Medical Director of Simulation, Nemours Institute for Clinical Excellence and Education Program Director as required
Utilize principles of adult learning to assess and analyze the educational needs of healthcare team members, identify educational objectives, plan and implement educational activities, and conduct a comprehensive evaluation of educational activities
Designs simulation education curriculum and programs for different levels and types of participants based on a variety of needs such as quality outcomes, research, trends and changes in practice and identifies opportunities for improvement and innovation in curricula, instructional technologies and operational systems
Demonstrates clinical expertise through research, demonstrations, observation and teaching of clinical skills
Provides consultation and resources to all members of the healthcare team and collaborates to identify learning needs
Develop and mentor course facilitators in the use and operation of patient simulators, audio-visual equipment and their maintenance
Collaborate with course facilitators to develop teaching strategies that will increase the participant’s ability to meet cognitive, technical, and behavioral skill requirements
Coordinate and supervise participants to ensure that the simulation lab experience meets the course objectives
Maintain expertise in the field of simulation by staying current on cutting edge simulation equipment, data capture, and simulations
Maintains effective communication and works collaboratively with Simulation Center team. Able to provide and receive constructive feedback from Simulation Center team members
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher nursing degree, required
Active registered nurse licensure for State of Florida required
Minimum of five years of RN experience required, experience with inpatient pediatric hospital and simulation experience preferred
Following courses must be completed prior to employment start date
Valid American Heart Association BLS, PALS, ACLS
