In the system Vice President, System Deputy Chief Medical Officer (DCMO) role, the incumbent provides leadership and operational oversight for the delivery of clinical care across the integrated CHRISTUS Health system and its regions, including international and non-acute entities. He/she will serve as a strong collaborator/partner with the other key Associates in the system Clinical Excellence Division -- the System SVP/Chief Nursing Officer - to build relationships with clinicians to gain support for CHRISTUS Health initiatives by devising clinical improvement opportunities and promoting the use of CHRISTUS Health technology to drive measurable outcomes, improve quality/safety of care and create care efficiencies. She/he will be an integral part of the implementation team to deliver CHRISTUS Health solutions, helping the organization move from decentralization and to embrace integrated service lines. The VP will report to the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer; among the key leadership responsibilities for the DCMO are direct accountability for the quality and patient safety assessment and reporting systems, and fostering the development of physician leadership. Through creation of a physician led process, including supporting the infrastructure necessary to align clinical and business units across the spectrum of care. The DCMO drives the transformation to a single, high quality care delivery standard across the system, creating and maintaining a consistent set of clinical care and medical staff expectations and accountabilities, as well as creating common supporting processes to deliver top decile care. The DCMO will assist the SVP/CMO with activities that entail providing strategic direction for and oversight of tools/systems to support clinical activities and reporting. The DCMO provides an understanding of the economic implications of current approaches and the impact of emerging technologies on health care delivery. She/he understands and contributes to best practices, trends, and use cases of such technology in the clinical setting. Additionally, the DCMO will serve as collaborative partner with the system Chief Medical Officer and System Chief Nursing Officer and will be part of the CHRISTUS Clinical Leadership Group (CLG), which governs clinical standardization and best practice deployment across the system.
The DCMO will work closely with the VP of Clinical and Business Ops Transformation in the design, initiation and improvement of Care Management, Utilization Management and Clinical Documentation Improvement programs.
Finally, the DCMO will serve as the dyad physician partner for the VP of Virtual Care and Clinical Improvement. This shared body of work will include co-design of virtual care solutions along with support and oversight of clinical research and academics.
M.D. is required;
Minimum 10 years of direct, hands-on clinical health care experience.
Minimum 5 years of management experience including 2 years managing leadership levels along with specific experience leading clinical quality and care management operations.
Minimum 1 year experience scaling and improving multiple geographically dispersed groups.
Exceptional communication skills/professional presence with ability to lead and drive change.
Proven, demonstrated skills impacting improvement of organizational productivity and development.
Experience effectively interpreting/translating strategic initiatives into daily operational objectives for staff.
Licenses, Registrations or Certifications:
State medical license; Board Certification by one of the American Boards of Medical Specialties.
