The preoperative charge auditor is responsible for reviewing all surgical patient records for accuracy via the clinical Electronic Medical Record (EMR) in order to improve the accuracy and efficiency of charge capture portion of the revenue cycle. Uses knowledge and experience to compare the clinical documentation to the patient charge detail pertaining to the individual items being billed. This role will perform daily chart review to audit for accuracy in charge entry in the nursing documentation. Will ensure all implants, supplies, and documentation are appropriate for the surgical procedure. Will verify that the correct charge description is assigned to implants and other billable charges. This must all be done prior to the record being submitted to billing. The Preoperative Charge Auditor Non-Clinical will validate the clinical RN's documentation for accuracy and completeness related to preoperative charges.
