Possesses current RN's license in state of practice; demonstrates sound leadership skills and utilizes these skills in organizing the activities and schedules for medical and/or non-medical tasks of the adult/adolescent/child; record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be an exemplary role model to others; displays basic knowledge of treatment procedures; interventions common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice; record of consistently high quality of clinical and interpersonal skills to be a role model to others; basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult chemically dependent and psychiatric populations; application of this knowledge to adult nursing care; basic knowledge of medical terminology especially those terms associated with adult addictive disease care; through familiarity of psycho pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications with adult addictive disease population; basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; organizational and time management; crisis intervention skills; written and oral communication skills; skills in facilitating and/or co-facilitating process orientated and didactic groups; eligible for CPR and IPA certification; skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships in a variety of clinical and support team members; empathy for patients and their families; flexibility regarding hours and schedule worked; basic knowledge of detoxification assessment and treatment procedures; familiarity with the disease concept of addiction treatment; knowledge of 12-step treatment and of cognitive aspects of addictive disease treatment; ability to identify signs of withdrawal from major classes of abused substances and ability to apply this knowledge to the treatment of chemically dependent patients; skills in maintaining information as highly confidential. In the absence of these qualifications upon hire, must demonstrate ability to learn these concepts and develop these skills within reasonable time frame via the organization's orientation and training program. EDUCATION AND /OR EXPERIENCE: Graduation from an accredited nursing program. Licensed by the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas. One year Adolescent, Child Psych, Adult Psych, and/or Chemical Dependency nursing experience preferred.
